Homecoming Involvement Program

            Homecoming Involvement Program

At the March meeting, the school board has approved a revision in the Parent Involvement Program (PIP).  This program has been amended to the Homecoming Improvement Program (HIP).  It is the contention of the board that PIP needed to be changed for three main reasons.  First, the process of recording points has become an unwieldy process that is overwhelming for a volunteer.  Many employee hours have been used to process points, collect delinquencies, send notices, etc.  Second, the many programs that need parental volunteers have been filled by parents eager to help the students.  The need for PIP points is rarely the impetus for their work.  A majority of our families exceed the 200 points by an excessive total.  Third, the revenue collected from parents who opt out of the PIP program will not be lost.  Parents will still have the option to pay $200 as an exemption to the new program.

Under the new program (HIP), school families will be required to sign up and work one shift at the parish homecoming, June 1-3.  The school board has deemed that there will be exemptions for the chairperson(s) of the following major fundraisers:  SSPP Golf Tournament, Market Day, Booster Club, School Auction, and Athletic Director(s).  All other school families will be required to work in some capacity in support of the parish homecoming.  Families who fail to sign up or show up for a shift will be assessed a $200 HIP charge for the following school year.  This amount will be assessed regardless of financial aid.  It is the contention of the board that this is a way for financially challenged families to make a positive contribution to the parish.

The categories of jobs are listed below.  Please rank 1, 2, or 3 according to your preference.  There are jobs available before, during, and after the homecoming. Please sign and return the sign up sheet to the office by April 3rd.  If no one contacts you by May 1st, please message the office.

Thank you for your continued work for the school and the parish.
